Choose what leaves your Mac.
Local capture and search do not need a cloud account. If you enable sync, the protection for your capture files depends on your plan and encryption settings.
Local use
Screenshots, recording, editing, OCR and gallery search run on your Mac. Without cloud sync, your captures remain local unless you choose to export or share them. You do not need an account for these local tools.
Standard cloud sync
When you enable SuperCapture Cloud, the service stores the captures and collections you select for sync. Transport encryption protects transfers to the service, and the storage provider encrypts stored data at rest.
Free and Individual do not provide zero-knowledge protection. Provider-managed storage encryption is different from encrypting a file on your device with keys the service cannot use.
Optional file encryption on Pro
Pro includes end-to-end encryption for capture files. When enabled, those files are encrypted before upload, with access granted to the people you authorize. The server stores the encrypted file rather than a readable copy.
This protection applies to capture files, not every piece of information needed to operate your account. Account and device information and supporting sync metadata are separate from encrypted file contents. Do not treat a zero-knowledge file-storage feature as a claim that the service holds no information about you.
Keep your encryption recovery information safe. The service cannot decrypt files on your behalf when you no longer have access to the necessary keys. Review the app’s encryption and recovery instructions before enabling the feature.
Sharing changes who has access
Check the people, folder permissions and link settings before sharing sensitive material. People you authorize can view the material you share. Changing access later does not remove copies someone has already saved.
A public share link is a separate publishing decision: do not assume a link is private simply because your own library uses encryption. Review its access settings before sending it.
What the service stores
The cloud service needs the synced content you select, your email address, account identifiers, and device information used to deliver sync. Its data-handling commitments, infrastructure-provider access and deletion policy are described in the privacy policy.
