Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 14, 2026

The short version

SuperCapture runs locally on your devices by default. Capture, OCR, AI categorization, and search all happen on-device, and nothing leaves your machine unless you choose to turn on SuperCapture Cloud.

SuperCapture Cloud is an optional, opt-in service that syncs the folders and collections you choose across your devices and lets you share folders with people you choose. When it is on, we store your synced content so we can deliver it to your devices — but we never look at it, never sell it, and never share it with third parties for their own purposes. The only contact information we keep about you is your email address; beyond that we hold just the account and device identifiers needed to route your sync.

Who we are

SuperCapture is operated by Awesome Machinery, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), a Delaware limited liability company. This policy explains what we do — and do not — collect, both when you use SuperCapture locally and when you enable SuperCapture Cloud.

Using SuperCapture without the cloud

If you do not enable SuperCapture Cloud, SuperCapture does not collect any personal information, usage data, diagnostics, or device identifiers, and the apps do not transmit your captures to us or to anyone else. All processing — including screenshots, video and audio recording, OCR text recognition, AI-powered categorization, and gallery management — runs entirely on your own device. The desktop app does not require an internet connection to capture, edit, organize, or search.

Your captures and associated metadata are stored locally on your Mac in standard file formats. You have full control over your files and can access, move, or delete them at any time using Finder or any other file management tool.

SuperCapture Cloud

SuperCapture Cloud is turned off by default. You have to opt in, create an account, and choose which folders and collections to sync. Here is exactly how it handles your data:

What we store. When SuperCapture Cloud is enabled, we store the captures, folders and collections you choose to sync so that we can deliver them to your other devices and to anyone you share them with. To run the service we also keep a small amount of account and technical information: your email address (which identifies your account), an account identifier, and basic details about the devices connected to your account — such as a device name and platform, and a notification token used only to signal that new data is ready to sync. Your email address is the only contact information we hold, and we never use any of this to build a profile of you.

We don't look at your data. We do not view, scan, analyze, mine, or monetize the contents of your captures or collections. We hold your synced content solely to provide the sync and sharing features you asked for.

Encryption. Your data is encrypted in transit between your devices and our servers using HTTPS/TLS, and is encrypted at rest by our storage provider.

Sharing with people you choose. You can share a folder with friends, family, or coworkers. When you do, the people you invite can access the captures in that shared folder so it stays in sync across everyone's devices. You control what you share and can stop sharing at any time.

Data retention and deletion. When you delete a capture, folder or collection in the app, we remove it from our servers within 30 days. If you delete your account, we remove your synced content and your account information, subject to the same 30-day window and any limited retention required by law.

No sale, no third-party sharing. We never sell your data and never share it with third parties for their own purposes. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not build advertising or marketing profiles from it.

Service providers. To operate the cloud, we rely on infrastructure providers (such as hosting and storage) that process data only on our behalf, under contractual confidentiality and security obligations, and only as needed to run the service. They are not permitted to use your data for any other purpose.

Private cloud for organizations. Companies and teams can request a dedicated private cloud with custom data-retention policies tailored to their requirements. If you have a private cloud arrangement, the data-handling and retention terms in your agreement govern, and may differ from the 30-day default described above.

Mobile companion app

The SuperCapture mobile companion apps (Android and iOS) have not been released. They are intended to let you capture from your phone — photos, document scans, and images shared from other apps. With SuperCapture Cloud enabled and signed in, those captures sync to your gallery across your devices. The mobile app's data is handled under the same terms described in the SuperCapture Cloud section above.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

SuperCapture contains no advertisements and does not participate in any advertising networks. We do not display ads, track ad engagement, or share data with advertisers. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking platforms, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

Children's privacy

SuperCapture is not directed to children. The local app collects no data from any user. SuperCapture Cloud requires an account and is intended for users aged 13 and older (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as it relates to children, and applicable state laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights under GDPR and CCPA

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have rights regarding your personal data — including the right to access, correct, delete, and port your data, as well as the right to opt out of its sale.

If you do not use SuperCapture Cloud, we hold no personal data about you, so these rights are satisfied by default — there is nothing for us to access, correct, delete, port, or sell. If you do use SuperCapture Cloud, you can exercise these rights at any time: you can access and delete your synced content directly in the app, and you can request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of your account data by emailing us. We do not sell personal data, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Permissions

SuperCapture requests platform permissions only as needed for capture functionality. Data accessed through these permissions stays on your device and is not transmitted to us unless you have enabled SuperCapture Cloud and chosen to sync it.

Desktop (macOS): screen recording, microphone, and file system access for screenshots, screen recording, audio capture, and gallery management.

Planned mobile apps — Camera: used to take photo captures from the "Camera" button and to power the on-device document scanner. Frames are processed on your phone; they are only uploaded if you have SuperCapture Cloud enabled and choose to sync the capture.

Planned mobile apps — Photos: used only when you explicitly pick an existing image to capture. The app does not browse, index, or upload your photo library on its own.

Changes to this policy
