Where SuperCapture differs
Screenshots and recordings in one place. SuperCapture captures stills as well as video, with a full markup toolkit for screenshots. Everything lands in one gallery, and OCR runs on every capture on your Mac, so you can find a screenshot by the words in it. See how screenshot search works.
Shared folders for team work. Marketing, support and product teams share whole folders of captures with colleagues and collaborators. A new screenshot or recording filed into a shared folder syncs to everyone in it, stays searchable by its text, and can be commented on in one place. With Pro for teams, your organization gets its own library: switch to it and every capture you take is filed there, and admins manage members from the web.
Every capture named for what’s in it. AI Rename looks at each new screenshot, recording and import on your Mac and names the file for its content, so a folder reads like a list of what’s in it, not a column of timestamps. Names follow a template you can edit in Settings, so every file can start with the date, a project prefix or whatever your team uses, with the AI’s description filling in the rest. AI Rename needs macOS 27 or later; the template works everywhere.
Work on many captures at once. Select a group of captures and act on all of them together: tag them, rename them with a name pattern, drag them into a folder, share or copy them, combine them into a slide deck, or move them to the Trash. Search narrows the library to exactly the set you want first, so reorganizing a project’s worth of screenshots takes seconds.
Bookmarks you can read offline. Save a web page from the browser extension and SuperCapture keeps its article text alongside a picture of it, and on Reddit, Hacker News and Discourse forums, the post and its comment thread too. Reader mode shows them as clean, readable pages, stored on your Mac, so they’re there offline and searchable with the rest of your library.
Web pages and slide decks. The Safari, Chrome, Brave and Firefox extensions capture a full web page by scrolling and stitching it, and step through web slide decks into a multi-page document. Get the extensions.
Audio, too. A dedicated audio recorder captures any mic or audio interface, channel by channel on multi-channel devices, with the same noise removal and levelling as the screen recorder.

When Screen Studio might fit instead
- You need 60fps. Screen Studio exports at up to 60fps. SuperCapture records and exports at up to 30fps.
- You demo iPhone or iPad apps from your Mac. Screen Studio records a phone or tablet connected over USB or through iPhone Mirroring, and wraps the result in a device frame.
- Your Mac runs an older macOS or has an Intel chip. Screen Studio needs macOS 13.1 and supports some Intel Macs. SuperCapture needs macOS 15 and Apple Silicon.
- You want a monthly plan. Screen Studio offers month-to-month billing. SuperCapture’s paid plans are annual.
Switching tips
- Try the same recording in both. Record a short walkthrough in SuperCapture and open it in the editor: automatic zoom and cursor smoothing are applied when it first opens, and you can adjust or remove each zoom.
- Turn on the mic for captions. Captions come from the microphone track, and the transcription model downloads the first time it runs.
- Install a browser extension if you also capture web pages or slide decks. Get the extensions.
